THE Edinburgh Marathon Festival is returning to Scotland's capital for another year, seeing casual runners and professionals alike descend on the city later this month.
Spanning some 26 miles, the run takes participants through the historic heart of Edinburgh to the stunning coastline of East Lothian.
If you're planning on taking part or simply want to avoid delays while out and about, here is everything you need to know.
When does the 2025 Edinburgh Marathon start?

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival will take place on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25.
There will be a range of events over the weekend, including a relay and a half-marathon run.
The main marathon event will start at 10am on Sunday, May 25.

The Edinburgh Marathon will start in Potterrow near The University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall before taking runners past numerous iconic landmarks like Greyfriars Kirkyard, where the beloved Greyfriars Bobby statue can be found.
Runners will then turn the corner onto Forrest Road before making their way up to North Bank Street and The Mound.
The route then wraps around Waverly Station, continuing over Market Street, Jeffrey Street and Cannongate before going past the Scottish Parliament along Horse Wynd.

It will then go across Queen's Drive, Duke's Walk, Meadowbank and the A1 (also known as the Great North Road).
It will then take a sharp left onto Restalrig Road South and Restalrig Avenue, as well as Craigentinny Avenue and Fullyside Road, before going along the beach at Portobello.
It will then leave the city, passing through towns like Musselburgh, Prestonpans and Port Seton.
